SK bioscience, a global innovative vaccine and biotech company committed to promoting human health from prevention to cure, announced today that its CEO Jaeyong Ahn has joined the Zero Disposable Challenge, a nationwide environmental campaign started by the Ministry of Environment aiming to reduce the use of disposable products in daily life since February 2023.

The campaign involves reducing the use of single-use items in daily life and increasing the use of reusable items. Participants make a commitment to these practices on social media platforms by posting the photo and nominate the next participants.

CEO Ahn was challenged by Lotte Biologics CEO Won-jik Lee. Korea Biomedicine Industry Association Chairman Jung-seok Lee, SK D&D CEO Do-hyun Kim and SK Plasma CEO Seung-ju Kim were called out as the next torch bearers of the challenge.

CEO Ahn encouraged its employees and stakeholders to participate in the campaign to reduce the use of disposable products in daily life by posting the photos of his participation on the company’s official social media and internal bulletin board.

SK bioscience tries to make its workplace culture more eco-friendly by encouraging its employees to use tumblers and mugs, use eco-friendly biodegradable straws, and create a paperless office. In addition, the company is actively responding to climate change based on the ´2031 Net Zero Roadmap,´ and its employees are volunteering to make eco-friendly kits using recycled materials and leftover resources.

CEO Ahn said, “The Zero Disposable Challenge is a reminder that small, everyday efforts can contribute to a sustainable future,” adding, “SK bioscience will continuously make efforts to enhance ESG management in order to realize both economic value (EV) and social value (SV) as Korea´s leading vaccine company."
